Factory resetting the device

Importance

You must sign out of your Google account and perform a factory reset before installing TDM.

Sign out of your Google account

Many devices support Factory Reset Protection, which requires the last owner of the device to sign into Google after a factory reset. TDM cannot be installed if this is active. So before resetting the device, deactivate it by signing out of your Google account. The exact steps vary per device and Android version.

On most Android devices:

Open the Settings app.
Go to Passwords & accounts.
Under the Accounts subsection, select the Google account and then Remove account.

On most Samsung devices:

Open the Settings app.
Go to Accounts and backup then Manage accounts.
Select the Google account and then Remove account.

Reset the device

On most Android devices:

Open the Settings app.
Go to System.
Go to Reset options.
Select Erase all data (factory reset) then Erase all data.

On most Samsung devices:

Open the Settings app.
Go to General management
Go to Reset.
Select the Factory data reset and then Reset.
