Changing policies

After installation is complete, device policies can be customised to meet the needs of a specific project or the moment. Upon opening the app, administrators must unlock the policy editor using the administrator PIN or passphrase set during the setup wizard. This can also be changed from inside the app.

Once unlocked, policy items can be changed. Changes are immediate: they’re saved and take effect without delay. When an administrator navigates to another app, or the device screen locks, TDM will lock itself again. The passphrase may be provided to authorised, deployed users such that they can override the original policy on their team’s devices should their tactical needs demand it.


A detailed guide to each policy item is provided in the Policy Guide. Not all policy items are available on all devices or versions of Android.

Changing the administrator’s PIN or passphrase

An adminstrator PIN or passphrase is set during the setup wizard but can be changed using the app:

  1. In TDM, go to Password policy > Administrator > Change PIN/passphrase.

  2. At the dialog, enter your current PIN or passphrase and press OK.

  3. Enter a new PIN or passphrase. Press OK.

  4. Confirm the new PIN or passphrase by entering it again. Then press OK.

A dialog will appear stating Administrator’s PIN or passphrase successfully changed.
